Some months ago, I searched for locations in Majorca. Now, whenever I visit OpenStreetMap, it opens there. I have registered, set my home to UK, said remember me, it knows who I am.

What setting do I change to make the map start up at a place of my choosing?

searched for 'how to set initial/start/startup location' in the help, the wiki, and via google, searched for places to set, and to no avail.

Have you tried clearing your osm.org cookies?

Does this answer you question?

I've cleared all the cookies, to no avail. However ...

Opening in chrome gets a different map, so it's the browser.

I haven't got my head around whether it's history doing funny things, but saving the full destination as a bookmark and going from there works, so http://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=12/51.7366/-0.3840 opens the map at that scale and coords

The "home" in your settings usually only gets used if you click the relevant link in your user menu.

For me the map always starts at the last location. This is remembered via a cookie in your browser. Maybe something got messed up with the cookies. Just delete all _osm_location cookies (this may be possible via your browser interface, maybe only deleting all cookies is offered by your browser which will also work but it also affects other webpages). Then the map should not start anymore at Majorca. If there is no last location (by cookie) then the home location gets used.

You also could try to use another browser (which uses different cookies). It should not happen then.
