Not too far from me there's a route relation for the GHB Ward Walk. It's complete, and the route analyser says they're all in one segment, but it would be nice if the ways in it were in the correct order. Can anyone think of a way to do that easily (i.e. something like "browse to magic web site, enter relation number, press button")? This particular example doesn't contain any nodes yet, but it would be nice if nodes were ordered into the "correct" place too if possible. asked 28 Sep '11, 16:15 SomeoneElse ♦ aseerel4c26 ♦ |
Use the sort button in the JOSM relation editor? I use it quite often to check boundary relations are one or more closed loops. I'm not sure what it would do with nodes though. Using your relation link above, I then opened JOSM and hovered over "Edit Relation" on the OSM page, choosing Edit using Remote Control. I then selected the relation in the relation list, clicked the open editor button, then clicked the sort button. I didn't upload the changes, but your route is indeed one closed loop. As an afterthought, if you can't use Edit Relation as it covers too large or detailed an area, you can use JOSM to download a given relation by id along with its referrers if you only want to sort the members. answered 28 Sep '11, 16:17 EdLoach ♦ I think JOSM will move nodes to the bottom of the relation when sorting it.

Thanks - that worked! To enable remote control in JOSM I needed to go to Edit / preferences / 9th tab (the tardis-like picture) / enable remote control / ok. "Edit Relation" is called "Call Editor for relation" for me and is on the right-click menu on the selected relation. "sort" is the 5th tab in the bottom left-hand corner of the "edit relation" window (with A-Z on it) As an afterthought, if I'd wanted to start at a particular way (e.g. way 105418532) and to go in a particular direction (anticlockwise) could I have done?

I'm not sure about starting at a particular way - it might be possible to move that way first in the list before sorting them, but I haven't tried it. In terms of direction, once sorted you can use the button below the sort one to reverse all members in the relation which would reverse the direction.

Yes - moving the "start" way to the top and then sorting does work: http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/relation/1694505
