I wish to mark an area in a wood that is not wood such as in this example but can't figure out how to do it. I think it requires using a multipolygon and discovered this page but am afraid I don't understand. Can someone explain the 'how to' in simple English please? I now use Potlatch 2. Many thanks Harry, that worked! I'd worked out part of that multipolygon malarke but would never have got there myself without your help - thanks again. I can't seem to find much Potlatch 2 help on the web, am I missing something? Robin

The internal help in Potlatch2 is internal, and isn't hosted on the web anywhere as far as I'm aware. There is this though, which may or may not be 100% up to date:

This is not the good place for your concern. Go to https://trac.openstreetmap.org/ and create a new 'ticket'

Although https://trac.openstreetmap.org/ is the place to report most OSM issues, JOSM has it's own trac, here.

Careful. All answers/suggestions are incomplete (strictly taken - wrong). The question was - how to convert a simple area to a complex area (not how to upload a complex area). The suggested procedures lead to two (almost) overlapping objects. You will never see your hole. There is already a huge number of similar errors in OSM data.

In the new iD editor you can also do that! Draw both areas, select them by Control-clicking on both and press the big plus icon: "Merge". Alternatively press "C" on your keyboard. answered 18 Feb '14, 20:32 Daniels Awesome! Thanks, it works in I.D.

For Potlatch2 its easy to make a multipolygon. First make the polygons, and tag each one separately. After that ctrl click each of the ways until all are highlighted then click the square in a square icon: then save it. Very simple. see pic answered 14 May '13, 07:20 andy mackey |
