The map layer on www.openstreetmap.org does not have speed limits, although you can of course see the speed limit if you inspect an individual road that you have identified in the "data" overlay (provided that a speed limit has been entered at all). There are several third-party maps that show speed limits as tagged in OpenStreetMap; one is the OpenStreetBrowser which has a maxspeed display under Transportation -> Individual Traffic -> Maxspeed. since this year you can also right click (or long tap) on a road, then select "query features", this lets you see the speedlimit if present in OSM (tag: maxspeed).

you can open www.openstreetmap.org an when you found the reoad, click on edit with "id editor" now click the road and check the property speed limit on the left https://www.openstreetbrowser.org/ Transportation -> Individual Traffic -> Maxspeed is the best option though, as already mentioned in the old answer

Take a look at wikispeedia for exact location of speed limit signs. That seems to be not OpenStreetMap-based, right? If so, please delete this answer.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, please discuss only OSM-related stuff here. OSM is what this help site is about, not some other data providers. Otherwise you also could add an answer "look in google maps". Just in case you did not realize: OSM itself collects speed limits (usually by adding it to the relevant streets, not by collecting the sign positions). Note that likely wikispeedia data may not be copied to OSM and vice versa (copyrights).
