I want to publish an OpenstreetMap extract in a booklet for a local community organisation. What kind of credit do I have to give OpenStreetMap? |

Have a look at the "How should I credit you?" entry in our legal FAQ. The gist from that entry is: You need to credit OpenStreetMap and make it clear that the maps are available under our licence terms.
Where possible, 'OpenStreetMap' should be hyperlinked to http://www.openstreetmap.org/, and CC-BY-SA to http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.0/ . If you are using a medium where links are not possible (e.g. a printed work), we suggest you direct your readers to www.openstreetmap.org (perhaps by expanding 'OpenStreetMap' to this full address) and to www.creativecommons.org. Also note that the license attribution might change once the data has been relicensed...

We request that your credit reads at least "© OpenStreetMap contributors, CC-BY-SA" and suggests that you direct your readers to www.openstreetmap.org and www.creativecommons.org The credit will vary depending on what seems appropriate for your application. If you have a standard place and way to put credit this is normally just fine. Normal place is usually at the end of the image description or a note at the end of the article saying "All maps © OpenStreetMap contributors, CC-BY-SA. See www.openstreetmap.org and www.creativecommons.org for more information and free maps." If the data is largely from a single contributor or an import it is possible to credit them as well as OpenStreetMap contributors. In general there should not be any confusion of who created the map and what license it is. |
