Snurrom did you find the answer? The previous respondent misunderstands the question. I'm wondering the same thing: how to create and add a route that you know to the open source openstreetmap.

Alistair - what do you mean by a "route"? A road, a path, your favourite cycling route...?

The main OpenStreetMap website does not offer route planing, but there are several other websites that offer this service based on OpenStreetMap data. For a list of possibilities check the wiki.
