Hello,

Im looking to put together a large street map that I can print out which will show all street names (even for tiny roads). I'm very new to this and so far have been experimenting with JOSM and osmarender. I only really want the roads and I read on another forum post that you can "extract" or download only the roads for a certain area. How can this be done?

Thank you very much in advance!

I think your can use "Maperitive", a tool to build your own rendering, which has a customizable set of rules that can display virtually everything in all ways.

... or take complete raw OSM data and use osmfilter to do some filtering. Then choose a renderer for your needs.

Maperitive is worth a try.
