I have garmin Nuvi 265 WT. I do not have sd card, so I want to install OSM map directly to my system.

How can I do it?

Thanks

I have a Garmin Nuvi 265W. It does support SD cards, so the easiest way to add a reasonable-sized map is to buy an SD card for it.

It should work with a GMAPSUPP.IMG file copied to the \Garmin folder on the device, but you'll be very limited (mine currently has 1.8Mb of 1.8Gb free only).

To switch between maps, I choose tools / settings / maps / map info.

I have not used that model but I suspect memory may be limited, Garmin map-source or base camp will allow you to send sections of map to your Garmin. See http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/BaseCamp and for GB maps and an excellent description of the procedure see this talkytoaster.co.uk/ukmaps.htm

You can always use the mass-storage mode of the device (just connect it to your computer) and put a map at Garmin/gmapsupp.img. This works for both external sd cards as well as the internal memory. Don't forget to backup any existing gmapsupp.img.

I tried it, just copied to Garmin folder but it does not work. Do I need to change any settings?

You have to activate the map in the settings of your device (and deactivate any other map). But at least for my Garmin models newly added maps get activated automatically.
