How do I get the map to show up with Latin/English names in places like Greece, Russia China etc.? I am looking at Corfu. ... Ah,I just dropped into Potlatch and it seems the only name for say Sidari is Σιδάρι, which is odd for such a heavily anglicized part of the world (all the street names and road signs etc are in Latin as well as Greek, the whole island runs on English tourists). So I can go and add a little value and give the Latin versions for all these place. I just checked Athens, that does have an international name set as you’d expect. But I still cant get it to show up as such ("international" in this instance I assume means "readable by Western Europeans"). How do I get the map to render with the "International" names ? I can bluff my way through in Greek, and Russian for that matter, but a map in Chinese, Arabic, Thai etc etc aint much use if you don't read the stuff so sorry for such a dumb question, I know I cant be more than two clicks away. I can search for sidari, so something in there knows where it is, so I will leave off adding international names for any of these, they wouldn’t be international anyway, they would be just latinized, I guess International means stuff like Athens rather than Athena, Munich instead of Munchen etc. (which is still the english version rather than the french etc). I had a look at Shanghai, it seems the way it's being done is to just add a latin international name (e.g Century Park Road) on the end of the local name. That seems a bit brutal. asked 03 Aug '12, 11:17 Mark lester aseerel4c26 ♦ |
