How to render openstreetmap tiles in a GIS program like QGIS? Can I pull them from a server or do I have to I have to server WMS files from a database?

Thanks!

Can you explain what you want to achieve exactly? Is what you want simply an OSM background map in QGis, or do you actually want to produce tiles?

If you are after a background map, see the question "How to get OSM as a raster layer in QGis".

It's ok, I was able to add an OSM background map to QGis. Thanks
